Community Action is a private, non-profit organization funded with federal, state, and local dollars in order to provide necessary services to the low-income, elderly and disabled in DeWitt County. CA does this through a variety of programs to meet the varying needs of these populations. Low-income clients are assisted through the weatherization, community services, and utility assistance (LIHEAP) programs.
Children of low-income families are provided educational and health services through the Head Start program that serves 3- and 4-year-old children throughout their service area. The Foster Grandparent Program provides volunteer opportunities (with a stipend) to seniors aged 60 and older as they assist in the local schools and child care centers throughout central Illinois.
