The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston determines your eligibility based on: 1) annual gross income; 2) whether you qualify as elderly, or a person with a disability, or as a family; and 3) U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status.

Mission Statement: hat mission is to provide decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing to low and moderate income citizens of the City of Charleston. The 107 employees of the Authority provide the day-to-day operational support for 1,407 public housing households located throughout the City and over 1,593 Housing Choice Voucher Program participants living in private accommodations.

I currently have Section 8 and my rent was $14, and now because of my son working I have to pay$794.00 in which we can not afford each month. I'm also being charged for over payment and owe SCHA Section 8 $3124.00 in which I'm having a very hard time. I need help fast Thank you.
