OVERVIEW: An interfaith outreach that provides financial assistance, a food pantry, and a monthly community meal to Howard County residents in need. SERVICES: 1) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance to help prevent evictions, oil, propane and termination of utility services, depending on availability of funds. Does not cover the entire bill. Will occasionally assist with prescriptions. Applicants should go to Community Action first. Individuals may request emergency funds once every 12 months and MUST supply an eviction notice or utility turn-off notice. Must be MEAP eligible. 2) FOOD PANTRY: Provides food for those in need. Takes requests for food baskets, which will be available the next day. Food baskets contain non-perishable items such as canned fruits and vegetables, crackers, and rice. Can only access once a month. 3) INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY CENTER: Offers a homemade meal once a month at various locations. All are welcome. Call before hand to determine when there will be a dinner. Dinners will not be held in July or Aug. 4) SCHOOL SUPPLIES 2016: Provides free school supplies to those in need. Sign up will be held on Thurs, July 28, 6:30PM at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia, MD 21044. Backpack distribution will be Thurs, Aug 18, 6:30PM at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center. 5) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2015: CHRISTMAS: Offers a holiday gift sign up, Santa Secret Shop, single adult gift exchange and gift card distribution for parents with children. Sign up will be held at Oakland mills Interfaith Center on the following days: Thur, Nov 12, Holiday Gift Sign Up Thur, Dec 3, 6-8:30PM-Santa Secret Shop with cookies Thur, Dec 10, Single Adult Gift Exchange Sat, Dec 19, 10AM-12Noon, Holiday Gift Card Distribution for Families with Children
