We connect individuals to available resources by assessing their needs, determining program eligibility and implementing necessary services. Gaps in services are identified and programs are developed to bridge these gaps. Volunteers and staff conduct face-to-face interviews with walk-in clients as well as clients referred by other agencies or organizations.
Assistance can include, but is not limited to: housing searches; providing subsidies for utility payments; subsidies for security deposits, rent, and move-in costs; referrals for employment training and placement; prescription coverage; financial management; and, access to legal services, counseling and advocacy. Persons referred to our agency are followed throughout the continuum to ensure all needs are addressed. For persons who are homeless, Rapid Rehousing funding is provided to assist them with obtaining more permanent housing.
LifeStyles also offers a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site that provides free federal and state tax preparation services during the tax season of mid-January through April of each year. Assistance is provided by appointment only, by contacting our office starting in January.
Additionally, staff works to implement culturally sensitive programs and services to better the quality of life for persons in our communities. LifeStyles is familiar with and complies to the extent applicable, with all requirements of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and agrees to comply with the Maryland Confidentiality of Medical Records Act.
