The Parent Community Connection (PCC), founded in 1998, supports low-income families in the Reston/Herndon area of Fairfax County, VA in the most important work they'll ever do: raising the next generation.
The PCC believes that:
the first three years of life are crucial to later learning and emotional well-being; parents are the primary influence in a child's life;the community influences the hopes and expectations of parents for themselves and for their children. The PCC provides a bridge that connects families with health, mental health, educational, vocational, social services and informal supportive resources in response to their needs before young children bear the brunt of overwhelming family stress.
The PCC provides empathic guidance and practical supports to parents in their role of supporting their infants' and toddlers' development and in meeting their own goals for personal growth.
The PCC targets families that other organizations have not reached or have not served adequately due to the number and severity of risk factors.
