The objective of the Schoharie County Rural Preservation Corporation will establish mechanisms to accomplish effective rural housing planning within the county. We will identify pressing rural preservation and housing needs that exist within the county and develop viable programs to attain their alleviation.
The purposes of the Schoharie County Rural Preservation Corporation are:
To provide assistance to home owners and renters in the form of training, information and other activities to aid them in repairing and maintaining their homes.
To provide assistance to those families who are ineligible for low-income loans or grants to obtain financing in the open market in order that they may be able to repair and/or maintain their homes.
To provide housing to residents whether by technical assistance, financial subsidy assistance or by owning and making available decent housing.
The majority of households served are to be classified as low to moderate income according to HUD Section 8 data published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
